Job Description - Field Supervisor

The Field Supervisor is responsible guiding a skilled team stationed at a client-owned site. You’ll oversee day‑to‑day service activities, drive quality and productivity, and contribute to a safety-focused culture. This is a hands-on leadership role where your decisions directly impact operational success, customer satisfaction, and the performance of our frontline workforce.


Location: Fort Hills, AB
Salary: $155,000 - $165,000 annually, plus safety incentive
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working on location each day.
Schedule: 7x7


This is a FIFO role, marshalling out of Calgary or Edmonton. Travel premium applies; camp accommodations are provided.


What You’ll Do



  • Operational Leadership: Oversee all shop and field service operations for customer‑owned facilities. Supervise, coordinate, and schedule tradespeople completing repairs and maintenance on mining equipment. Coordinate activities with welders, subcontractors, and other support trades. Conduct in‑process inspections and verify final repair quality. Prepare service quotes and review work orders for accuracy and completeness.

  • People Leadership: Ensure SMS policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed and enforced. Maintain a clean, safe work environment for all shop and field activities. Provide coaching, guidance, and training to tradespeople, including apprentices and labourers. Conduct employee evaluations and support employee development through rotation and training plans. Provide direction to Lead Hands and Charge Hands.

  • Customer Service: Engage with customers to diagnose concerns, recommend solutions, and ensure issues are resolved. Prepare reports, quotations, and support field dispatch functions. Coordinate parts ordering, PM services, and Komatsu Care programs. Organize mandatory field campaigns (Komatsu) both onsite and in the field.

  • Administration & Compliance: Administer work orders and ensure documentation accuracy. Verify inventory availability for major work orders. Complete material handling documentation and warranty work processes. Review timecards, FLRA cards, and pre‑/post‑job assessments. Conduct safety audits, support corrective actions, and participate in JOSH Committee activities.


What You Bring


The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment, plus a minimum of 5 years experience as a Journeyperson HET, including work with Komatsu and other OEM mining equipment. Other qualifications include:



  • Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician, with Red Seal.

  • Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation and equipment inspection requirements.

  • Ability to oversee a large, complex operation with shifting priorities.

  • Strong organization, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
