Your opportunity: Under the general direction of the Director, Planning, Data & Analysis, the incumbent provides business intelligence solutions to support Human Resources and Research initiatives at the Faculty of Arts & Science. The incumbent will utilize these business intelligence solutions to optimize financial planning and monitoring of the Faculty's expenditures. The incumbent will engage clients to understand business needs and translate requirements into institutional datasets, reporting and analytics products that generate insights for the Faculty’s performance and resource allocations. These applications will require a variety of technical skills including SQL, Python, and R, or SAS, as well as visualization technologies such as Tableau and PowerBI. The incumbent will work closely with colleagues within the larger Data Team, the Office of Budgeting, Planning, and Finance, the Academic Human Resources Department and the Administrative Human Resources Department within the Faculty of Arts & Science to operationalize data and analytics products. Your responsibilities will include: Overseeing the financial management of budgets that include strategic planning, analysis and forecasting beyond a department level Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making Providing advice and data to support the development of business cases and analytics for departmental initiatives Analyzing data and trends to recommend strategic sourcing Delivering presentations on financial data and models to clients and/or senior management Determining key performance indicators to measure success Developing task schedules in concert with project schedules Planning components of projects Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business, or Data Analytics and a Certified Human Resources Professional Designation or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum five years experience in providing development and design expertise in working with human resources and financial data analytics projects. Working experience in Human Resources with a focus on HR analytics, and/or statistical analysis. Demonstrated experience working with large and complex data sets as well as experience analyzing volumes of data. Working and conceptual knowledge of building and maintaining physical and logical data models. Experience researching, developing, and implementing strategies for business development. Experience with leading presentations, meetings, and workshops to formulate business and financial requirements. Experience researching and creating performance indicators for financial resource allocation. Experience with systems design to capture and translate ideas into workable solutions. Understanding of machine learning capabilities and how to implement models. Strong understanding of agile methodology. Exceptional analytical skills. Ability to develop a strong understanding of Human Resources as it relates to the application of HR best practices and processes for data analysis and leveraging technology. Experience with Big Data cloud solutions such as Microsoft Azure – Data Factory, Data Bricks. Strong presentation skills and storytelling skills. Experience and high fluency in the use of tools including Python, SQL programming skills, Tableau and/or PowerBI development. Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and HR-related data sources. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business questions into data-driven solutions. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Knowledge of HR processes, policies, and industry trends is highly desirable. Assets (Nonessential): A MBA or a Master of Statistics would be an asset.
