Reporting to the Controller the Finance Clerk is the frontline Public Service Contact for the Finance department. This position is responsible for receiving and processing all payments made to the City, including water, garbage, land leases, taxes, building permits, and bylaw tickets including dog violations and tags. The Finance clerk is responsible for logging in payments from the pool, arena, skate park and any other payments made for City programs and services. This position involves counting, reconciling, balancing and depositing cash into City bank accounts and and maintaining related financial reports and files. The Finance clerk also assists the other department personnel as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

Specific Skill or Knowledge Required

2 years experience as a cashier in a finance related enviornment
Ability to work well independently and in team environment
Good problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
Strong communication skills

Assets

Ability to communicate in Inuktitut is a definite asset
College program in business administration
Strong organizational skills

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate must successfully pass a criminal reference check.
Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
All relevant certifications are required at time of application. The successful candidate would be required to submit a Criminal Record Check, as well as an acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
