Finance Supervisor (FTE)

Invest Ottawa is seeking a Finance Supervisor to perform a variety of core accounting functions with a focus on accounts payable, treasury, and balance sheet reconciliations. Reporting to the Manager, Finance, this role oversees purchase order and invoice processing, banking and treasury functions, and employee expense administration, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time.

You will provide day-to-day supervision and support to two Finance Assistants while coordinating accounts payable workflows, supporting vendor relations, and ensuring compliance with finance procedures and internal controls.

Work Model: 10 days per month required in-office at Bayview Yards  
Corporate Pay Band C: $63,200- $94,800

Hiring Salary Range: $65,000 - $79,000

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 

• Oversee vendor payment processing including EFTs, bill payments, cheque runs, and wire transfers, and monitor accounts payable aging to support timely processing and follow-up.


• Coordinate workflows and approval processes for invoices, staff expenses, and credit card reconciliations, including oversight of purchase orders and vendor banking detail changes.


• Oversee the finance email inbox, ensuring timely responses to payment requests and inquiries from vendors and staff.


• Prepare tax compliance report preparation and filing including HST and import and duties.


• Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and training to Finance Assistants, and review their work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to finance procedures.


• Support audit requirements and ensure compliance with accounting controls and finance policies.
  


• Support onboarding of finance staff and contribute to the development of training manuals and process improvements.


• Manage Emburse or related payment processing tools, including user administration, system configurations, and resolving import discrepancies.


• Prepare and reconcile bank accounts and assigned balance sheet accounts monthly, and support month-end and year-end finance activities related to accounts payable and treasury.


• Manage credit card administration including new card issuance, deactivation, reconciliations, and balance monitoring.


• Review and monitor vendor invoices to ensure proper coding aligned with departmental budgets, and investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and outstanding balances.

WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER : 

• Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls.


• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable, treasury, or finance operations.


• Experience coordinating workflows, training staff, or supervising finance support staff is an asset.


• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  


• Strong service orientation with the ability to build trust quickly with internal and external stakeholders.


• Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central is an asset.


• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
