Financial Planning and Analysis Director

Strategic Leadership

• Build, drive, and sustain a high‑performance team through coaching and development.


• Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of Western’s financial planning and analysis function.


• Strengthen Western’s financial business partnership model, positioning FP&A as a strategic driver of business insights and decisions.


• Foster accountability, collaboration, and transformation across Finance and business units.


• Model and communicate Western’s Guiding Principles, embedding them as the foundation of our inclusive culture.

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Lead annual and ongoing financial planning cycles—forecasting, budgeting, and capital/resource allocation.


• Build and maintain financial models that incorporate revenue forecasting, commission structures, and claims analysis.


• Provide actionable insights to support investment decisions, operational efficiency, and business growth.


• Monitor financial risks, including market dynamics, interest rate changes, and insurance product performance.


• Deliver analysis that drives cost optimization and enhances financial integrity.

Business Partnership & Advisory

• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, delivering strategic financial recommendations.


• Expand FP&A’s role across business units to support key initiatives and performance objectives.


• Provide insights that support Western’s insurance operations and strategic goals.

• Extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, and business partnership—ideally within financial services or insurance.


• Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.


• Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, and executive‑level communication skills.


• Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and risk assessment.


• Ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders and drive alignment in a complex, evolving environment.

Role Details

• Hours/Duration: 37.5 hours per week – Full time, permanent 


• Location: Remote options available in Winnipeg or Calgary
