FINISHING TECHNICIAN
About the Role
Mylen Custom Kitchens is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finishing Technician to join our finishing department.
This position is primarily responsible for the preparation of cabinetry and components for finishing through sanding, surface preparation, inspection, and material handling. Working as part of our finishing team, you will help ensure products are properly prepared for coating and finishing operations while maintaining exceptional quality standards and supporting efficient production flow.

As skills and experience develop, opportunities may exist to learn advanced finishing techniques, automated finishing equipment, and spray application processes.
What You’ll Be Doing
Prepare cabinetry and components for finishing through orbital sanding, sponge sanding, block sanding, detail sanding, and surface preparation techniques
Inspect surfaces for defects, imperfections, and quality concerns prior to finishing
Load and unload components through automated sanding equipment
Perform detail sanding and touch-up preparation to achieve high-quality finished results
Assist with material movement and workflow throughout the finishing department
Support operation of automated finishing equipment and production lines
Assist with coating and finishing processes as training and experience progress
Perform quality inspections to ensure products meet company standards and specifications
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and equipment
Perform basic preventative maintenance and cleaning of sanding and finishing equipment
Follow all health and safety policies and procedures
Support other production departments when operationally required
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the finishing department
What We’re Looking For
Previous woodworking, manufacturing, sanding, painting, automotive body preparation, construction finishing, or related hands-on experience considered an asset
Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
Comfortable performing repetitive tasks while maintaining consistent quality standards
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power sanders, and production equipment
Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality standards
Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and processes
Desire to grow within the organization and develop advanced finishing skills
Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to supporting departmental success
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent experience
Woodworking, manufacturing, sanding, painting, finishing, cabinetry, or related experience considered an asset
Ability to understand and interpret engineering and technical drawings, as well as written instructions and design specifications
Strong mathematical knowledge
Ability to read and take accurate measurements and prepare materials to a high level of quality and precision
High level attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining speed and accuracy to ensure daily production requirements are met
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
Effective verbal and listening communication skills
Valid First Aid and CPR certification an asset
Valid Joint Health and Safety Committee certification an asset
