FinOps Technical Analyst

This role turns cloud and AI consumption data into cost transparency, smarter decisions, and measurable business value. We are seeking a FinOps Technical Analyst with strong data analytics skills and experience across AWS, Azure, and AI/GenAI. This role will analyze cloud and AI consumption, build actionable reporting, identify optimization opportunities, and translate complex technical and financial data into clear insights for engineering, finance, and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze AWS and Azure billing, usage, and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, cost drivers, and optimization opportunities
• Analyze AI/GenAI cost drivers including tokens, models, inference, GPUs, embeddings, and managed AI services.
• Build dashboards and reports for cloud spend, AI consumption, forecasting, budgets, showback/chargeback, and unit economics. 
• Support FinOps activities including cost allocation, tagging governance, budget tracking, commitment analysis, and savings realization. 
• Partner with engineering and application teams on rightsizing, reserved capacity, savings plans, storage optimization, and workload efficiency. 
• Use tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel, Splunk, and other similar platforms to transform data into insights. 
• Communicate findings clearly to technical, finance, product, and executive stakeholders. 

Required Qualifications

• Strong Technical experience in data analytics, AI or cloud operations 
• Strong analytical skills with experience using SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python, or similar tools. 
• Ability to create clear dashboards, executive summaries, variance analysis, and actionable recommendations. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
