The Fleet & Equipment Mechanic’s mission is to reduce equipment-related downtime by keeping vehicles and equipment in solid working order.
This role covers both maintenance and repair of work trucks, skid steers, trailers, mowers, and other field equipment, along with some minor facility maintenance.
Key Deliverables:
Fulfilling vehicle and equipment repair schedules to limit down time for production.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Ensure preventative maintenance, inspection and service records are kept up to date using Salus software
Mobile repairs at jobsites as required
Carry out small to moderate sized repairs on trucks, equipment and trailers.
Troubleshooting and sourcing information for more complex repairs.
Transporting vehicles and equipment to repair shops as needed.
Record keeping and communication
Keep accurate logs of all equipment and vehicle maintenance and repairs using Salus software
Attend weekly Goal Setting and Review meetings with Production Manager
Keep current with urgent repairs requests via software and morning check-ins
Maintain list of tasks that can be done by helper/s when available
Keeping shop stocked and organized
Stock standard service items, hand tools and shop supplies
Conduct monthly inventory of shop supplies & frequently used parts
Keep shop tools, supplies and equipment organized & tidy
Facility maintenance and repairs
Perform regular facility inspections and basic facilities maintenance and repairs
Winter role adjustments
Role can include occasional weekend work and overtime when emergency repairs to snow-removal equipment is required.
Minimum requirements
Experienced in servicing trucks (F150 - F550's) and equipment such as skid steers and mini excavators.
Ability to work without supervision
Experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
Strong mechanical skills
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Competent in standard computer programs including Microsoft Office.
Willing to work outside (as needed) occasional nights, weekends, holidays to respond to emergencies when required.
Welding and fabrication skills would be a significant asset.
