Terrain Group is looking for a Fleet Manager / 310T Licensed Mechanic to take ownership of the maintenance, repair, and day-to-day management of our company fleet.
This is a hands-on working leadership position. You will spend your time actively diagnosing and repairing trucks and equipment while also planning preventative maintenance, coordinating repairs and parts, maintaining service records, and ensuring the fleet remains safe, reliable, and operational.
Our fleet includes pickup trucks, triaxle trucks, skid steers, excavators, dozers, rock trucks, trailers, small equipment, and various tools.
We use AI-assisted tools to help identify and match applicants to our open roles. This may include reviewing resumes and suggesting potential matches. All final hiring decisions are made by humans.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues on trucks and heavy equipment
Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
Complete Ontario MTO annual safety inspections on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
Conduct regular fleet inspections and safety checks
Prioritize urgent repairs to minimize equipment downtime
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
Monitor fleet condition and identify potential issues before they become major repairs
Coordinate ordering and management of parts, supplies, and repair materials
Maintain an organized inventory of parts and shop supplies
Coordinate outside repairs and service providers when required
Provide support for field repairs and breakdowns when necessary
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Ensure maintenance activities are completed in accordance with company safety policies and Ontario Occupational Health and Safety requirements
Help establish and maintain preventative maintenance schedules
Operate company vehicles and equipment as required to complete repairs, inspections, and maintenance
Requirements
Full 310T Truck and Coach Technician License
Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed 310T mechanic
Strong experience diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks
Experience repairing excavators, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, or trailers
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills on trucks and heavy equipment
Experience performing Ontario MTO inspections
Welding experience
Valid G Driver's License
AZ or DZ License is an asset
