The Fleet Supervisor shall oversee the day-to-day operations and direct maintenance work completed by SDG Counties staff and outside contractors for all vehicles and equipment owned, leased and used by the Transportation Services Department.
Main duties include but are not limited to:
Ensure equipment is maintained in accordance with approved SDG Counties and provincial standards and legislation. Schedule and oversee vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime for all vehicles and equipment within SDG Counties fleet. Maintain accurate records of all vehicle information and maintenance history.
Supervise and direct the maintenance and repair work completed by SDG Counties staff.
Liaise with the Patrol Supervisor(s) and Department Managers on a regular basis to ensure work is completed as required.
Work with external vendors and service providers to acquire supplies, parts, equipment, and/or specialized repair services. Maintain an adequate parts inventory to ensure efficient completion of maintenance activities.
Assist with procurement of vehicles and equipment, including research and preparation of relevant specifications. Assist with disposal of surplus equipment in accordance with our policy.
Analyze fleet performance data to improve efficiency and prepare reports for management on fleet performance and finances.
Assist with budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures, particularly concerning fuel, maintenance, and vehicle replacement.
Process purchase orders and invoices for maintenance activities and parts supply.
Work independently and make timely decisions relating to equipment maintenance.
Follow all provincial and municipal health and safety policies and procedures and report any non-compliance or possible safety risks.
Where approved, participate in programs, attend conferences and courses which foster professional or technical development.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Business Administration (Automotive/ Trades Management) or related field and/or a combination of education and experience with five or more years’ experience in fleet maintenance and service.
Management skills with the ability to supervise in a unionized environment.
Sound working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, collective agreements, etc.
Ability to exercise good judgement and tact when dealing with staff, contractors and the public.
Possession of Certified Automotive Fleet Manager designation is an asset.
Basic computer skills, with knowledge of fleet management software and other technical tools are required.
Possess and maintain a valid ‘G’ driver’s license.
Ability to provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

2025 Salary Range: $86,299 to $100,963 (40 hours per week) with full benefit package and pension
