Job Description - Food Services Team Member - Fall Contract




















Daily Rate - $141.68 – Check out the YMCA’s total compensation package!



Location: YMCA Camp Pine Crest



Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week



Employment Type: Seasonal Contract - 3 months (Existing Vacancy)



Number of Vacancies: 5



Anticipated Start Date: August 24, 2026

The Food Services Team Member contributes to the preparation of meals for Outdoor Centre groups while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and equipment. The role emphasizes collaboration with colleagues, volunteers, and participants to foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere throughout the centre. It requires providing excellent customer service while strictly following health and safety procedures. The position involves standing for long periods, working full days, and actively participating in the communal living environment.


 In this role, you will:



  • Support the Food Services Coordinator and/or Food Services Director in the preparation, cooking, and serving of all meals and snacks

  • Provide friendly and prompt customer service to all clients and guests

  • Assist in meeting special dietary accommodations, including vegetarian, vegan, celiac, halal, and allergy-related needs

  • Ensure a high standard of quality, cleanliness, and safety in all food preparation

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitizing equipment as required

  • Follow and role model food safety practices, camp policies, and procedures

  • Build positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners

  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings, arriving on time and actively participating in team development

  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed and maintained

  • Share responsibility with the team for keeping camp facilities clean, organized, and safe for campers, staff, and volunteers

  • Act as a positive role model, embodying the values of the YMCA, Pine Crest’s guiding principles, YMCA policies and procedures, and Ontario Camps Association guidelines

  • Perform other duties as assigned



    You bring:



    • Food Handler Certificate required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract or equivalent experience

    • Standard First Aid & “CPR-C” required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract

    • Minimum 1 year of experience in an institutional kitchen

    • Excellent written communication skills

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to change

    • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to build rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers

    • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays

    • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging
