A talented Frontend Web Developer with experience using WordPress to support our Web Developer to design, code, modify, and update Elevate’s Festival website (ElevateFestival.ca) on a freelance basis for 4-6 weeks. This person will be available to work anywhere between 5-15 hours per week on any given week on different website projects.

The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of front-end programming languages, a good eye for aesthetics, and at least 2 years of experience building and maintaining websites using WordPress. You must understand HTML, CSS, PHP (and more importantly the WordPress Theme System), modern tooling and web development practices, and HTTP Requests.

Sample Projects:

• Updating mobile pages
• Developing new WordPress page templates based on figma designs
• Creating wordpress forms on landing pages

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a frontend developer
• Minimum 2 years experience working with the Wordpress Theme System, including themes and plugins
• Experience working with a UI/UX designer
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Experience working with common prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, XD etc.
• Experience designing and developing responsive design websites.
• Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome Inspector, etc.
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
• A portfolio of previous work to showcase experience.
• A team player with exceptional organizational and technical skills.
• Highly organized and autonomous, but also collaborative and able to work cross-functionally.
