Location: Kingston General Hospital – 76 Stuart St, Kingston, ON
Pay Rate: $22.61/hour
Employment Type: Full-Time | Continental Rotation (0800–2000 / 2000–0800)

About the Role

Paladin Security is looking for a dedicated and professional Healthcare Security Guard to provide full-time coverage at Kingston General Hospital’s Mental Health unit. In this critical position, you’ll ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff in a high-sensitivity healthcare environment. You’ll maintain a visible presence, respond to emergencies, and assist in upholding hospital policies — all while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional and visible security presence throughout the facility.
• Greet, assist, and direct patients, visitors, and staff courteously.
• Conduct proactive and reactive patrols (both interior and exterior).
• Monitor access control, enforce hospital policies, and ensure key/parking management.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents, providing assistance as required.
• Document and investigate security incidents and prepare accurate reports.
• Support patient watch duties with empathy and professionalism.
• Conduct safety inspections and identify potential risks.
• Collaborate with hospital personnel and other emergency responders.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a WSIB-approved provider).
• Must be clean-shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (minimum two doses).
• Valid immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, Pertussis, and TB Skin Tests – Steps 1 & 2).
• English proficiency (oral and written).
• Must commit to full-time availability for at least 6 months.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to Have

• Stay Safe certification (Paladin will cover certification costs with a 6-month commitment).
• Minimum 6 months of healthcare or non-healthcare security experience.
• Customer service experience and/or bilingualism (English/French) considered assets.
