Location: Kingston, ON, CA
Pay Rate: $22.61/hour
Employment Type: Full Time (Continental Rotation 0800–2000 / 2000–0800)
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement after 88 Hours

Overview

Kingston General Hospital is a vital healthcare facility providing top-tier medical care and community support. As part of Paladin Security’s healthcare division, Security Floor Guards are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. This role requires professionalism, vigilance, and compassion while managing security duties in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional, visible, and alert security presence throughout the hospital.
• Greet, assist, and direct staff, patients, and visitors in a courteous manner.
• Protect hospital personnel, property, and assets by carrying out assigned duties and patrols.
• Perform interior and exterior patrols, respond to emergencies, and provide necessary support.
• Monitor CCTV systems, enforce access control, and manage key control procedures.
• Support patient watches, enforce hospital policies, and uphold parking and smoking by-laws.
• Conduct monthly safety inspections and promptly report deficiencies.
• Document and report all incidents, investigations, and daily activities accurately.
• Collaborate effectively with the hospital’s team while maintaining the ability to work independently.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by site supervision or hospital management.

Must Have Requirements

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C Certificate (from a WSIB-approved provider)
• Ability to be clean shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test
• Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination (minimum double vaccination)
• Immunization Records including:
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
• Varicella (Chickenpox)
• Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
• TB Skin Tests (Step 1 & 2)
• Full-time availability with a minimum 6-month commitment
• English proficiency (oral and written)
• Authorized to work legally in Canada

Nice to Have

• Stay Safe Certification
• Applicants lacking this certification can complete Paladin’s Stay Safe program before onboarding.
• Training is unpaid but fully covered by Paladin with a 6-month employment commitment.
• Bilingualism (English/French) – an asset
• 6+ months security experience (healthcare or non-healthcare) preferred
• 6+ months customer service experience preferred
• Ability to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check (during onboarding)
