Pay Rate: $19.13/hour
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Continental Rotation – 08:00–20:00 / 20:00–08:00
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

The Trenton Memorial Hospital (TMH) provides primary and some secondary care to patients, offering inpatient services and specialized clinical programs such as the Comprehensive Breast Assessment Centre.
As a Healthcare Security Guard, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining safety and order within a healthcare environment—protecting patients, staff, and visitors while ensuring compliance with hospital protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive and reactive security patrols throughout the facility
• Perform patient watch duties and assist hospital staff as required
• Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies
• Control access and monitor visitor activity
• Enforce hospital policies, including parking and smoking by-laws
• Write clear, detailed reports and maintain accurate incident records
• Participate in investigations and routine security checks
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, staff, and visitors
• Maintain professionalism and composure in stressful situations
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C Certificate (from a WSIB-approved provider)
• Proof of minimum double COVID-19 vaccination
• Immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and TB Tests)
• Minimum 6 months of security experience
• Valid G Class Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle in good repair
• Ability to commute to Kingston for pre-deployment training
• Ability to site train at all four QHC facilities (Belleville, Trenton, Picton, Bancroft)
• Must be clean-shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Nice to Have

• Previous healthcare security experience preferred
• 1+ year of general security experience preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB)
• Applicants without these certifications can complete Paladin’s UoF/MOAB training prior to onboarding
• Note: Training is unpaid as it is a pre-requisite, but Paladin covers all costs with a 6-month employment commitment
