Job Description - Gallery Associate - Client Relations + Operations

Coastal Peoples has an exciting opportunity for a Gallery Associate to join our vibrant Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver.

You will be responsible for providing administrative and operational support. The role will involve customer service, inventory management and various tasks that are crucial to key the daily functioning of the gallery.

Our Gallery can give you the opportunity to experience Indigenous culture in an arts environment. Since 1996, Coastal Peoples Gallery has presented a world class First Nations and Inuit collection and has brought visitors and collectors together to experience their art and culture in a historic Gastown location.

We’re seeking a self-motivated, super organized and versatile individual with an eye for detail who possesses administration skills and is willing to maintain and oversee various aspects of the gallery while handling specific duties related to inventory management plus daily operations during a flexible work week.

Responsibilities:

Working within a team environment, you would perform key tasks to assist in the performance of the gallery, including:
Gallery operations and reception duties
Engage with prospective buyers and clients in person and electronically
Web site inventory and CRM database management
Assist with exhibitions and special events
Perform shipping duties as necessary Gallery maintenance and cleanliness

Qualifications:

Requires a confident, dependable individual to contribute enthusiastically and take on key gallery responsibilities within an intimate team environment
Self-motivated, self-reliant multi-tasker capable of working independently and as a part of an integrated team
Sales experience dealing with high-end clientele
An interest or specific knowledge in Canadian First Nations’ culture is preferred
Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, etc.
Ability to handle delicate artwork in a professional manner
Experience in maintaining a client database and/or web site is an asset
Experience in corporate B2B sales and/or events management is an asset
Flexible weekly schedule including some weekends
