General Labourer

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the General Labourer packs, ties, labels, counts and identifies wood using various handling equipment.

Main duties

·         Operate wood handling equipment on the stacking line.

·         Piling lumber by hand.

·         Band and wrap lumber.

·         Maintain a clean and organized workstation and yard.

·         Adhere to all workplace safety rules and regulations.

·         Adhere to customer service commitments.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Attention to detail
• Able to count and identify wood products of various sizes.
• Must have own steel-toe boots.
• Basic math skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms, and heavier weights as required
• Must be able to speak, read and write English

Education

• High school diploma is an asset

Employment Status

• Permanent full-time

Compensation

• $19.74/hr as per Schedules A & B of the Collective Agreement with the United Steel Workers
• Overtime may be available
• Health benefits

Working hours

• Monday to Friday
• 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Must be flexible with start and finish times.
