General Machinist

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced General Machinist with 5 to 7 years of hands-on machining experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely manufacturing precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and workplace safety.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.


• Set up and operate manual machine equipment to manufacture parts to specified tolerances.


• Safely manufacture, modify, repair, and finish components according to drawing requirements.


• Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments.


• Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and organized conditions.


• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to achieve required specifications.


• Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production deadlines.


• Ensure all completed work meets quality and customer requirements.

 Required Equipment Experience

The successful candidate must be proficient in the safe operation of the following equipment:

• Manual Lathe


• Manual Milling Machine


• Manual Surface Grinder


• Band Saw


• Broaching Machines


• Pedestal Grinders

  Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum 5 to 7 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.


• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.


• Thorough understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and measurement techniques.


• Ability to manufacture parts accurately to drawing specifications.


• Must possess own basic machinist hand tools and measuring instruments.


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.


• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

 Safety Responsibilities

Safety is a core responsibility of this position. Employees must:

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.


• Immediately report any unsafe condition, hazard, near miss, or safety concern when identified.


• Report safety issues to the following individuals in the order below:




1. Lead Hand


2. Machine Shop Manager


3. Safety Manager




• Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).


• Always maintain a safe and clean work environment.

 Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.


• Ability to lift materials and components as required.


• Ability to work safely around moving machinery and equipment.
