Currently, the City of Belleville has an exciting opportunity for two (2) highly motivated, strategic, and dynamic individuals to join the Transportation and Operations Services Department as General Operators.Position Type: Permanent Full-Time Closing Date: September 9, 2025, at 4:30 PM Department: Transportation and Operations Services File Number: SV25-104 Number of Positions: Two (2) Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 40 hours per week Employee Group: CUPE Union (Jurisdiction B) Salary/Rate of Pay: $30.23 per hour plus $1.85 shift premium as applicable. PURPOSEAND SCOPE:
Reporting to Supervisors within the Transportation & Operations Department, the General Operator position is responsible for completing tasks and operating equipment noted in the Duties and Responsibilities and assigned by the Supervisors to ensure that the municipal road system and related municipal properties are maintained safely and reliably.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Effectively operate equipment as listed below
Effectively perform all tasks assigned below
Erect construction traffic signs in the municipal road system in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and any Municipal By-laws.
Perform general labour and work activities as required; including operating, cleaning, repairing, and maintaining municipal assets.
Be courteous to the public and show respect for equipment.
Be aware of and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all City policies relative to the Department.
