We are continually growing and are looking to add a Grading Crew Leader to our team in Bedford! We have completed many of the premier landscape projects in Nova Scotia including Argyle Street and Spring Garden Road, Queen’s Marque and Peggy Cove’s Viewing Deck. Your day at Trim Landscaping:
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who not only runs equipment confidently but also understands grading, drainage, and big block retaining wall construction.
If you take pride in clean grades, proper drainage, tight walls, and running an organized site, this position is for you.

Our working days are Monday to Friday, Occasionally Saturday.
Job Duties:
Supervise excavation crew and coordinate daily site activities
Assign tasks and ensure productivity and workmanship standards are met
Train and mentor operators and labourers
Conduct daily safety talks and enforce company safety policies
Read and interpret civil, grading and building plans
Complete pre-operational equipment inspections
Interpret grade stakes, laser levels, and site plans
Establish proper elevations and slopes
Run mini-excavators, skid steers, and loaders efficiently and safely
Excavate and prepare landscape projects (ie: retaining walls, walkways, pools, sidewalks and patios)
Execute rough and final grading
Perform precision excavation and fine grading
Prepare garden beds and subgrades for soil installation
Ensure proper compaction and gravel base preparation
Install and oversee weeping tile systems and site drainage
Ensure correct slope, bedding, and backfill practices
Identify and correct drainage issues before they become problems
Layout and build large-format retaining walls (K-Block or similar systems)
Install geogrid reinforcement when required
Follow engineered drawings and specifications

Job Requirements:
Minimum 3-5 years equipment operating experience
Mini excavators
Skid steers
Loaders
Experience in precision grading, drainage systems and large format retaining walls
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and elevations
Leadership experience running a crew on active job sites
Valid driver’s license
Strong knowledge of safe excavation practices
