Job Description - Graphic Designer

We are currently recruiting a Graphic Designer for a full-time permanent position in Winnipeg, MB.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating the print and digital visual representation of the Frontiers North’s (FN) group of brands, which includes contributing to content development and strategy (on and offline), website maintenance, and executing a variety of marketing activities to meet FN’s long-term economic, social, and environmental goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Develop and maintain FN’s brand standards and style guidelines and facilitate implementation and updates.
  • Apply branding and design principles to all marketing assets and organizational touchpoints to ensure consistency across all branded materials.
  • Contribute to the creation of FN’s digital marketing strategy and implement the tactics within that plan.
  • Perform graphic design, help maintain third-party programs, and facilitate website maintenance, which may include collaborating with internal and third-party developers.
  • Provide design formatting and templates for FN communication materials (i.e., brochures, social media, e-newsletters, blogs, etc.)
  • Integrate Search Engine Optimization / Search Engine Marketing (SEO/SEM) practices into digital strategy to generate leads and awareness.
  • Research and identify new design and digital marketing opportunities.
  • Manage multiple projects of varying scope, from inception to completion, prioritizing as needed.
  • Effectively communicate the vision of projects (small to large scale) to third party suppliers, source quotes, and communicate internally to inform decision making.

  • Collaborate with and assist other members of the marketing team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Maintain open communication and cooperation with other staff to ensure a friendly, collaborative, and efficient working environment.
  • Assist in the training and support of new marketing team members including contributing to the development and maintenance of departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in cross training to strengthen teams, create more opportunities for advancement within the company, and create redundancies for periods of employee leaves and turnover.
  • Actively participate in company meetings.

  • Follow the Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation standards and protocols and all Frontiers North health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend all safety meetings as required.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, sanitary, well-organized, and hazard free.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Post-secondary education in graphic design, marketing, communications, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years’ related work experience in digital marketing, including graphic design and development for a small-to-medium-sized business using online tools.
  • Demonstrated experience creating content for digital platforms and/or print.
  • Experience working with and a strong understanding of social media and digital marketing metrics, analytics, and reporting,
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages are an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer, including Mac operating systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Internet, and server databases.
  • Proven experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign.
  • Experience with HubSpot is an asset.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including empathy, and patience.
  • Creative, positive, and innovative attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work individually and as part of a team.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Office environment; long periods of sitting, using a computer and mouse, and viewing information on a computer monitor.
  • The ability to travel to Churchill, Manitoba and other locations by air, vehicle, and/or train is required (8-10%)
  • Overtime may be required during evenings, weekends, and on holidays.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
