Job Description
The graphic designer reports to the Communications Manager and renders digital artwork for communications. The position involves creating print and online media, including web pages, logos, flyers, business cards, posters, and other media.
Responsibilities:
- Create visually appealing graphics for various platforms, including social media, websites, print materials, and promotional items to promote the Students’ Society;
- Ensure all designs adhere to the SSMU’s brand guidelines and maintain a consistent look and feel across all media;
- Revamp the SSMU Brand Guideline and keep it up to date;
- Manage multiple design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality visuals;
- Work closely with the Communications Manager or appropriate parties to develop, refine and finalize artwork as needed;
- Creates simple videography/animation content for social media.
- Complete other tasks and projects for the Communications Department as assigned by the Manager.
Other Responsibilities and Functions
To undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Communications Manager from time to time.

Qualifications
- Good knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro ) and Canva;
- A technical diploma in graphic arts or a university degree in visual arts with specialization in graphic design
- 1 to 2 years of graphic design experience;
- Experience with social media platforms;
- Highly organized and motivated to work on new and existing projects;
- Graphics and layout experience;
- Planning skills, interpersonal skills, and organization skills are key;
- Good communication skills, both in English and French, are an asset.
