Job Summary: The Hardware Engineer is responsible for the design for manufacture of electrical components for leading-edge high performance, UVC based water treatment solutions. Working in a team environment this highly collaborative role includes electrical design ballasts and control boards of UV Systems and testing new and existing products. The Hardware Engineer will enhance products during the full cycle manufacturing process of lifesaving products that are used around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and approve changes to UVC ballasts to ensure that driving characteristics meet or exceed lamp requirements.
Verify that products meet certification standards.
Ensure products meet or exceed global EMC and electrical standards.
Design new and update existing hardware for control boards of UVC ballasts.
Generate BOM’s, schematics, and Gerber files for manufacturing of PCBs with a focus on analog systems.
Update existing and new designs to solve costing, quality, or manufacturing challenges.
Validate and approve new and existing components for functionality and durability.
Monitor test records to ensure product and process compliance.
Troubleshoot equipment and product issues.
Continuous improvement activities.
Drive portfolio sales growth of UV system products and solutions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Postsecondary education in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years’ electrical design experience.
Experience with RF electrical noise sources and mitigation strategies.
EMC lab experience.
Experience with KiCad, Altium, Eagle or similar design software.
Strong aptitude with electrical instrumentation including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Ability to safely use hand tools and measurement instruments.
Embedded programming experience an asset.
Fluorescent and LED lighting experience an asset.
Knowledgeable on CSA, CUL and other global certification standards.
Knowledgeable on IEC.
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be a strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience reading/understanding engineering drawings and basic GD&T.
Ability to generate and manage engineering documentation.
Working Conditions:
Full-Time, Head-Office position, regular business hours
Time spent in the office and Engineering Lab
