HDD Tankhand - The Crossing Company Light Rig Division

Job Description - HDD Tankhand - The Crossing Company Light Rig Division

The Crossing Company – Light Rig Division (LRD) is growing, and we're looking for experienced, motivated, and safety-focused individuals to join our team. As one of North America's largest trenchless construction companies, our people are the reason we lead — and we're committed to helping you build a long, rewarding career in the field.

We're looking for an experienced Tankhand to take charge of the rig's drilling fluid system. You already know this work — mixing and maintaining the mud, running the solids control equipment, operating the boiler when it's on site. Now you'll own it, keep the system running clean, and help lead the crew. If you've got the experience and take safety seriously, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and run the drilling fluid circulating system, including water supply and storage

  • Build and maintain the drilling fluid, mixing additives, then measuring, recording, and reporting fluid properties

  • Operate and maintain the solids control equipment, monitoring performance and making adjustments as needed

  • Manage the inventory of drilling fluid additives, counting, recording, and reporting

  • Set up and operate the boiler and steam circulating system when it's on site, and supervise the safe use of steam

  • Perform Roughneck duties as needed, and supervise the Roughnecks and Lead Roughneck as directed by the Driller or Rig Manager

  • Keep all equipment clean, organized, and in good working order

  • Take direction from and report to the Driller, and when required, the Rig Manager

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Tankhand, with a solid background in drilling fluid management and solids control

  • A valid Special Oilwell Boiler Operator's Certificate to operate the boiler on site, preferred

  • A strong commitment to safety, for yourself and everyone around you

  • The ability to measure, calculate, and record information accurately and legibly

  • Leadership skills and a team-first attitude, you'll be training and directing Roughnecks

  • Physically fit and comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather and outdoor conditions

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license required; Class 1 strongly preferred

  • Safety tickets: SFA (Standard First Aid), H2S Alive, GDII, PCST, CSTS 2020

  • 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, with rotations ranging

  • Willingness to travel to job sites across Western Canada

  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol testing

What We Offer

  • Competitive wages based on your position and experience, plus daily and weekly overtime

  • Premium for holding an experienced Class 1 driver's license

  • Comprehensive benefits — dental, vision, life insurance, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Paid travel to and from worksites, plus Living Out Allowance (LOA) where applicable

  • Accommodations provided while on project

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided

  • A genuine safety-first culture and real opportunities to grow and move up
