Reporting to the Manager Nunavut Field Operations, the Head Regional Operations manages the inventory of fuel for communities ensuring that fuel, in strict conformity with the Government of Nunavut regulations and standards, is available to satisfy the needs of all users as well as ensuring that PPD’s tank farms, related infrastructure, and fuel delivery vehicles are kept up to regulatory codes and standards. 

Main responsibilities for the Head Qikiqtaaluk Regional Operations include:

• Managing PPD’s storage facilities and distribution network in the region

• Completing the annual pre-resupply inspections of fuel tanks, pipelines, and tank farm infrastructure and fuel dispensingfacilities to ensure that all is in readiness for the receipt of fresh product by oceangoing tankers

• Supervising the discharge of petroleum products in all communities from ship to shore in accordance with industry standardsand Government regulations

• Monitoring retail sales and inventory reconciliation activities and product quality received by end-users

• Assisting with administering the petroleum contracts for each community and monitoring the field operations to ensure the proper implementation of a scheduled preventative maintenance program

• Liaising with the Manager Technical and Environmental Services the position will ensure environmental regulations are met

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through an Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field with two (2) years of related experience including one (1) year supervisory experience. 

Assets include the following: experience in a petroleum related field; First aid and CPR certification; Class 5 driver's license;Aircraft Refueling procedures certification; Supervisor of an Oil Transfer Operation (SOTO) certification; Aviation FuelHandling Certification; Spill prevention, control and response training or similar certification; Workplace Hazardous MaterialsInformation Systems (WHMIS) certification.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
