Job Description - Health Program Manager

Who We Are


The Mikisew Cree First Nation (MCFN) operates a professional government organization that supports a wide range of programs and services across education, administration, health, operations, and community-focused departments. Who You Are


You are an organized, proactive, and results‑driven professional with a strong background in program and project management within health or community‑focused environments. You bring the ability to lead complex initiatives from planning through implementation while balancing multiple priorities, meeting funding and reporting requirements, and supporting positive health outcomes for members.



ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Oversee the operational execution of projects, programs, and initiatives to ensure successful implementation and timely reporting to funders, and Health Director.

  • Provide strong leadership and clear guidance throughout program delivery by upholding project scope, aligning objectives and deliverables, defining tasks and resource needs, developing comprehensive work plans, fostering team collaboration, and coordinating efforts while monitoring and reporting on activities and outcomes.

  • Engage staff in the development and review of annual goals and objectives within work plans, closely monitor program delivery to ensure alignment with strategic aims, and facilitate consistent reporting to fulfill all funding and compliance requirements.

  • Take an active role in quality assurance, risk management, prioritizes health and safety, adheres to all applicable legislation including privacy laws, complies with organizational policies, and supports enhanced productivity, and new efforts that support positive health results for members.

  • Assist with research activities within the department in coordination with the Health Director and other departmental personnel.

  • Act as a focal point for all initial queries from staff regarding policies and procedures.

  • Maintain high standards of professionalism when representing the organization and foster positive relationships with stakeholders.

  • Follow up and resolve complaints, contribute to developing acceptable resolutions, and monitor outcomes to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality both within and outside the work environment to protect sensitive information.

  • Keep accurate records of all programs’ activity, including program statistics and regularly update the Health Director on progress, recommended changes, and new matters that relate to the strategic plan.

  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned to support the organization’s goals and objectives.



EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Post-secondary degree in relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Understanding of issues and requirements related to information privacy and access, and confidentiality of an individual’s personal information and records.

  • Must have advanced computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, spreadsheets, Internet and Teams, and willing to learn other platforms as required.



Other Requirements:



  • Must possess a valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • Willingness to travel to Fort Chipewyan periodically according to business needs.

  • Availability to work after hours/weekends as needed.

  • Flexibility in working schedule, in-office presence, and community-based work.

  • Must provide and maintain a clear criminal record vulnerable sector check.

  • Completion of the First Nations Health Managers Association Certification program or willingness to enroll and complete.
