Schedule: Continental Rotational Shifts – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM / 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

This position is based at the Community Transition Program (CTP) – a vital initiative that helps adults with complex mental, physical, and behavioral challenges transition into appropriate community care. As a Healthcare Security Officer, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular patrols of hospital premises, including parking areas, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems to detect suspicious activity and report incidents promptly.
• Access Control: Oversee entry points to restricted areas and verify authorization for staff and visitors.
• Emergency Response: React quickly to emergencies such as medical incidents, fire alarms, or security threats; assist hospital staff during critical events.
• Customer Service: Provide directions and assistance to patients, staff, and visitors while ensuring adherence to hospital policies.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate confrontations and maintain a calm, professional demeanor at all times.
• Report Writing: Accurately document daily activities, incidents, and safety concerns.
• Collaboration: Work closely with hospital teams and local law enforcement to maintain a coordinated safety response.
• Policy Enforcement: Ensure compliance with all hospital rules, safety standards, and visitor protocols.

• Must reside around Halifax, Nova Scotia.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Must be able to work full-time rotational shifts, including overnights.
• Ability to obtain a Security License for Nova Scotia.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor).
• English fluency (oral and written).
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
• Must be able to provide Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) certifications.

Applicants without these certifications can complete Paladin’s UoF/MOAB training program before onboarding. Training costs are covered by Paladin with a six-month employment commitment.
