The City of Charlottetown is seeking a dedicated individual to join their dynamic team. As a vital member of our Public Works Department, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and specialized equipment essential to the daily operations of a vibrant community.Job Responsibilities:

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to trucks, buses, construction machinery, and specialized municipal vehicles.

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, and engine tune-ups to ensure optimal performance and longevity of vehicles.

Conduct thorough inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to efficiently diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical problems.

Welding and fabrication of components when necessary to repair or modify equipment.

Maintain accurate records of all repairs, services, and inspections conducted on each vehicle or piece of equipment.

Collaborate with other maintenance and operational staff to prioritize and coordinate repairs, minimizing downtime and ensuring the availability of essential services.

Stay abreast of industry developments, technological advancements, and best practices to enhance skills and contribute to the continuous improvement of the maintenance program.

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety within the workplace.

Participate in on-call rotations or emergency response teams as required to address urgent maintenance needs.
