The Role

We currently looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics with shovel experience for a ongoing outage work at Syncrude. 


Compensation/Benefits

• CLAC rate: $55.50/hr, time and a half after 8 hours per day
• CLAC DSP $125.00/hr

Job Details

• Shift - 14 on 14 off, 6 on 6 off, 14 and 7. Shifts may vary.
• Night shift premium offered
• Camp - room, board and meals provided
• Travel allowance paid per rotation based on home base location
• Local premium available for Fort McMurray residents

Job Duties/Responsibilities 

• Completion of preventative maintenance and servicing - Engine oil changes and oil sampling, track adjusting, lube & mechanical servicing.
• Completion of varying component change out, diagnosing and repairs.
• G.E.T work. Replacing ripper tips, ripper shanks, bucket teeth, inspecting cutting edges and reporting, measuring ice lugs and reporting.
• Completion of LOTO, participation in tool boxes and ensuring the FLRA is completed at the beginning of every job and work is completed safely.
• Complete equipment maintenance in line with OCL, client and industry standards, procedures, and practices.
• Independent work environment, without direct supervision.
• Ensure goals are met and communicate progress to supervisor.

Education/Skill/Experience

• Journey-Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic/Inter-provincial Red Seal Certification
• Must have a JM HET Off Road Ticket.
• Must have shovel experience.
• Experience working on Caterpillar equipment and Caterpillar service information systems.
• Previous side boom, shovel and pipeline equipment repair experience.
• Experience both in-field and in shop an asset.
• Possess and licence and have a clean driver’s abstract.
• One of CSTS/OSSA or BSO/CSO.
• Confined Space, AWP, Fall Protection are required. 
• Crane and Rigging experience and training is an asset.
• Great attitude towards health and safety.
• Strong and independent work ethic.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
