Heavy Duty Mechanic - Pitt Meadows, BC

Can Ridge Industries Ltd. is currently accepting applications for a full-time Commercial Transport / Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team at our modern, well-equipped 6,000 sq. ft. facility in Pitt Meadows, BC.

This position plays a key role in supporting our mid-size fleet of commercial trucks, trailers, and folding boom / stiff boom cranes. Reporting to the Head Mechanic / Shop Foreman and Service Leader, the successful candidate will also assist in expanding our ability to service the fleets of long-standing customers in our crane and transportation divisions—particularly by conducting commercial vehicle inspections on their trucks and trailers and performing repairs to pass inspection if required.

This is an afternoon shift position, with scheduling options of Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday from 12pm-8:30pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on company trucks, trailers, and cranes

• Conduct Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVI) for both internal fleet and customer-owned units
• Maintain, diagnose, and repair:
• Tractors
• Trailers
• Folding Boom and Stiff Boom Cranes
• Use Service Truck to complete repairs on equipment in the field when a breakdown occurs
• Use Service Truck to conduct repairs in our yard located in South Surrey if needed
• Establish daily work priorities with Head Mechanic and Service Leader and adjust as required
• Maintain clean and organized shop space, tools, and equipment
• Source and procure parts from vendors for equipment repairs, including researching, comparing pricing, and identifying cost-effective aftermarket alternatives
• Perform welding, fabrication, and electrical repairs when needed
• Document repairs and maintenance accurately
• Support preventative maintenance programs and schedule planning
• Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations and Can Ridge safety policies

Required Qualifications

• Red Seal Certified Commercial Transport / Heavy-Duty Mechanic
• Valid Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certification
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 3 or higher is an asset)
• Proficient in English (spoken and written)
• Physically fit and capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs

Assets

• Experience with internal engine diagnostics, repairs and engine rebuilds
• Mobile crane repair experience
• hydraulic systems experience
• Welding and fabrication skills
