How You’ll Contribute
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you’ll be at the heart of our field operations. Your safe and precise operation of excavators and other equipment will keep projects on track and uphold the safety-first culture that defines MacKay. You’ll support your team by bringing technical skill, situational awareness, and a strong work ethic to every shift.
What You’ll Get to Do
Operate excavators and other equipment (loaders, dozers, graders, haul trucks) safely and effectively
Perform work in compliance with MacKay policies and provincial/federal health and safety legislation
Operate in busy environments with full awareness of surroundings and potential hazards
Follow directions and non-verbal signals from site supervisors, operators, and ground crews
Conduct daily mechanical inspections, complete logbooks, perform minor servicing, and maintain housekeeping of equipment
Clean tracks and equipment at the end of each shift
Identify existing or potential hazards through field-level hazard assessments and communicate them appropriately
Complete and submit daily FLHAs and timecards
Support the team with flexibility in shifts and hours as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Who You Are
You’re an experienced operator who thrives in fast-paced construction environments and takes pride in safe, responsible equipment operation. You work well independently and as part of a team and are committed to precision and safety in every task.
You have:
Experience operating excavators in civil construction (or equivalent)
Knowledge of construction layout and staking
Familiarity with 3D machine control systems (an asset)
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract
Government-issued photo identification
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Effective verbal communication and active listening skills
A demonstrated commitment to safe and responsible operation
The ability to follow instructions and adapt quickly on site
