Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic NOC 72401

• 
  Inspecting trucks,
  cranes, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper
  performance.
  
• 
  Perform electrical,
  hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative
  maintenance.
  
• 
  Service, repair and
  maintenance of a variety of automotive equipment such as
  container truck lifts, reach stacker, front end loaders, cranes
  and other special purpose types of equipment.
  
  
• 
  Diagnosing faults
  using computerized testing equipment.
  
  
• 
  Determine what parts
  and tools are necessary to make repairs.
  
  
• 
  Determines vehicle
  condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic
  tests;Provides instruction and training in the proper methods
  and processes necessary to perform equipment repair, inspection
  and preventive maintenance, identifying worn and damaged
  parts.
  
• 
  Cleaning,
  lubricating, and conducting routine services on
  heavy-duty vehicles
  
• 
  Troubleshoot issues
  with diesel engines.
  
• 
  Test repaired
  equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work
  meets
  manufacturers’ specifications.


• 
  Cleaning and
  servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades,
  and side booms.
  
• 
  Maintain a schedule
  for preventative maintenance on all equipment providing
  for
  lubrication, replacement of tires and tune
  ups.
• 
  Performing major
  repair work when necessary.
  


• 
  Provides instruction
  and training in the proper methods and processes necessary
  to
  perform equipment repair, inspection and preventive
  maintenance.
• 
  Reporting damaged or
  faulty equipment to management.
  

Requirements

• 
  High school diploma
  or GED.
  
• 
  Post-secondary
  certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic
  (a plus).
  
• 
  Minimum 3 years’
  experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy diesel
  equipment, or equivalent.
  
• 
  
  Understanding of
  computer testing technologies.
  


• 
  Welding experience (a
  plus).
  
• 
  Extensive knowledge
  of diesel engines and construction
  equipment.
  
• 
  Valid driver’s
  license and a clean driving record.
  
  
• 
  Ability to work
  after-hours if required.
  
• 
  
  Manual
  dexterity.
  
• 
  Ability to lift heavy machinery.
