Standard Hours Bi-Weekly:  75

End Date:  March 20, 2026


Salary:  Level 7 Step 1 ($3,316.50 bi-weekly)

Reporting to the Student Support Coordinator, the High School Education Support Worker 8-12 (ESW) proactively provides support to Indigenous students in grades 8-12 and their families to ensure that learning outcomes are successful and to generally facilitate the overall educational, personal, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of indigenous students including those with special needs. This position will maintain a regular schedule at Robert Service School (RSS) and at the TH Education Department to promote students’ academic success, advocate on behalf of students, maintain regular communication with families, provide case management and monitor student progress, inform TH citizens about education programs, develop positive relationships with school staff, coordinate programs/service delivery and referrals, collaborate with YFN CELC’s/ESWs and organize other special projects or duties. The position acts as a liaison between RSS teachers, students, and parents on educational and personal matters.  This position is also responsible for carrying out daily operational duties, monitoring monthly budgets, work plans, activity reports, and other general administrative duties. 


 


An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  



  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related academic field of study combined with experience working with First Nations students, schools, and communities. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, skills and abilities may be considered.

  • Experience working directly with children/youth in an education, social, health, and/or wellness program/service delivery environment.

  • Knowledge of available community resources, programs, and services, and ways to access local supports.

  • Knowledge of public-school environments, and the services and supports available in the public school system.

  • General awareness of educational, cultural and social issues affecting First Nation people.

  • Knowledge of research, analysis, funding applications, evaluation, and reporting.

  • Experience in program planning, case management, coordination, development and delivery to meet identified goals and objectives.

  • Ability to be a healthy and positive role model to children/youth and maintain healthy boundaries. 


Assets:  



  • General understanding of the TH Self-Government Agreements, TH Final Agreement and TH Implementation Plans, or willingness to learn.

  • Knowledge of the educational priorities of Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Government and TH Education, or willingness to learn. 


 


Conditions of Employment: 



  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening.

  • Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver abstract.

  • Wilderness First Aid certification, with willingness to take Remote First Aid.

  • TH101 cultural awareness
