House Manager

Position Overview:

Seeking a highly capable, energetic, and experienced House Manager for a semi formal residence located in Toronto. The successful applicant will take full ownership of an organized, efficient and smoothly run home along with a cottage outside of Toronto. This role is ideal for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, anticipates needs, and can manage household responsibilities with minimal responsibilities. This position is full-time, live-out. Work hours are generally between 9am – 5pm with some flexibility required.

Candidate Profile:

You are an experienced and knowledgeable private service professional with experience managing all service providers required for the household. You communicate well, are comfortable working independently, and comfortable working in conjunction with principals on special projects. You understand a home is a living environment, not just a workplace, and can easily adjust your daily schedule to accommodate activities in the residence. You are very comfortable working with children and able to step in if needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

●      Liaise with household staff, contractors, and service providers to ensure smooth operations for all household mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, equipment, and fixtures

●      Perform regular, seasonal organizational projects as necessary

●      Source service professionals and supervise their work for the residences as required

●      Prepare both residences for principals’ arrivals, ensuring fresh linens, and well stocked fridges and pantries

●      Maintain all household inventories including cleaning supplies, toiletries,  and groceries

●      Run errands such as grocery shopping, dry cleaning, and household supply restocking

●      Help with special tasks as required

●      Clean patio furniture during the summer months

●      Ensure household security protocols are followed

●      Answering the door, receiving packages, overseeing tradespeople, and walking the dog as needed

●      Vehicle maintenance for the family vehicle

Applicant Qualities:

●      Previous experience in a similar role for a private family is preferred

●      A valid driver’s license is required with consistent access to a vehicle

●      Excellent English communication skills and professional personal presentation

●      Detail-oriented high personal standards, and comfortable working in a home with dogs and children

●      Organized, efficient, and proactive

●      Ability to problem-solve and take initiative without constant direction

●      Comfort and experience cooking is considered an asset

●      Must be comfortable lifting 30 pounds and physically capable of performing the listed duties

●      Must maintain privacy and confidentiality always, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respecting appropriate boundaries

●      Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
