Job Description - HR and Payroll Assistant

We’re looking for an HR & Payroll Assistant to join our Edmonton office. This full-time hybrid role comes with vacation time, health benefits, and Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP) opportunities—all within the stability of a growing company. It’s a chance to be the steady hand behind the scenes, making sure contracts, payroll, and compliance line up seamlessly. You’ll bring clarity and confidence to employees and contractors, while giving our leaders peace of mind that payroll runs right, every time.



This is more than administration—it’s about protecting financial integrity, improving employee experience, and building trust across the business.



What You’ll Do 




This role blends HR, payroll, and compliance into one:



Keep us organized: Ensure employee and contractor records are accurate, contracts are signed, and everything is where it should be.


Make payroll seamless: Support and back up our payroll process so it’s always accurate, on time, and aligned with agreements.


Protect the details: Double-check billing, expenses, and contracts so nothing slips through the cracks.


Be the go-to guide: Help employees and contractors with payroll or contract questions—clear, approachable, and professional.


Connect the dots: Work across HR, Payroll, and Finance so information flows smoothly and leaders have the data they need.

What You Bring




  • Post-secondary education in business, HR, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 1–3 years of experience in HR, payroll, or administration (entry-level candidates with strong attention to detail will be considered).

  • Strong organizational skills and a sharp eye for detail.

  • Comfort with HR/payroll systems (experience with BambooHR an asset, training provided).

  • A service mindset: approachable, professional, and invested in doing things right.
