Job Description - HR Business Partner, Heartland

Description

Working at the Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC) as member of the Leadership team, this role supports a workforce of dedicated individuals at the first fully integrated propane dehydrogenation and polypropylene plant in North America. An HR Senior Analyst is also based at the HPC site.

Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner based in Calgary, the Heartland HR team support the strategy and growth of the entire business unit comprising of Operations, Finance, Commercial and Legal. 

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• As a key member of the HPC Operations Leadership team, the role will be embedded in Operations with a lens to supporting the business in-line with IPL’s priorities and values
• Help leaders identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, structures, and processes for their people
• Lead the forecasting & planning talent requirements
• Coach managers on leadership, performance management and employee development
• Help establish new and creative people programs that fit business goals such as succession planning, employee well-being initiatives and reward and recognition in collaboration with the broader HR department
• Manage employee relations matters and effectively coach leaders, utilizing legal advice where appropriate
• Provide coaching on corporate policies and procedures
• Develop and support programs that focus on workplace wellbeing and aimed at decreasing potential risk factors relating to workplace fatigue
• Support the Senior HR Business Partner with reporting and program rollouts


EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Higher education in Business Administration and/or HR management
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in an HR Generalist capacity
• Experience in an Operating environment, ideally Oil and Gas or Manufacturing an asset
• Ability to engage, inspire, and influence people and build long-term trusting relationships
• Sound judgment on a range of people issues and the confidence to influence leaders and outcomes
• Superior written and verbal communication skills


SCHEDULE:
The position has a 9 x 80 schedule that allows for every second Friday off. 

As this position is identified as safety and security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol, drivers abstract and criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.
