Description  

The HSE Trainer and Internal Auditor will play a dual role in supporting the company’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and facilitating our comprehensive in-house training programs to ensure employees at all levels are equipped with the knowledge and skills to maintain a strong safety culture. Additionally, the role includes coordinating third-party training, monitoring worker certifications, and ensuring timely renewals. As an Internal Auditor, this individual will conduct routine audits across all sites to objectively assess compliance with company standards, COR/ISO requirements, and regulatory obligations. By combining proactive training initiatives with thorough site audits, the HSE Trainer and Internal Auditor will ensure consistent safety and continuous improvement across the organization. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain comprehensive health and safety training programs tailored to the organization’s needs and in compliance with relevant regulations 

• Maintain training matrix, ensuring all workers have the appropriate training for their role 

• Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars on various health and safety topics, including but not limited to workplace ergonomics, emergency response, hazard communication, and equipment safety. Deliver certified forklift training, First Aid, Working At Heights, JHSC 

• Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of training programs and materials  

• Collaborate with management to identify training needs and ensure all employees receive the necessary training based on their projects, roles and responsibilities. 

• Develop and distribute safety-related resources and materials to employees. 

• Maintain accurate records of training activities 

• Routine Internal Audits: audit all projects using a standard form for compliance. Where indicated, immediately report unsafe conditions and stop work if necessary 

• Ensure corrective actions are completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner 

• Provide training and coaching for staff on COR auditing purposes 

• Conducting internal COR audits  

• Conducting internal ISO 45001 audits 

• Recommend corrective actions for COR and ISO 45001 compliance and continuous improvement  

Qualifications  

• Valid driver's license  

• Proven experience in adult learning 

• Experience in the construction industry is an asset  

• Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards 

• Experience with CPO approved training: Working at Heights and JHSC 

• COR External Auditor preferred 

• Experience with auditing- especially COR 

• Experience in coaching/teaching/adult learning 

• Committed to continuous improvement 

• Red Cross First Aid Instructor qualification is an asset 

• NCSO designation is an asset 

• Bilingual is an asset
