HSEC Junior Analyst, Technical Writer Co-op

Location: 

Vancouver, British Columbia, CA

Teck has recently designed and implemented a new enterprise-wide Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) software application for identifying and handling risks, reporting and investigating incidents and injuries, managing change, performing audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with our obligations, and leading our stakeholder engagements.  For this exciting position we are specifically targeting students in Health & Safety Management, Environmental Management, and/or Community Engagement programs although students in other programs are welcome to apply. We are looking for students with strong communication skills, an analytical mentality, and driven to learn. 

Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures 

Update existing user guides for the Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) software application 

Cooperate with team members to refine content of documentation 

Develop and write technical user documentation 

Develop and document work procedures 

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree or diploma in Health & Safety Management, Environmental Management, and/or Community Engagement or any equivalent programs

Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities 

Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English language; Spanish-speaking would be an asset 

Sound interpersonal communication skills with the ability to cooperate with team members 

Self-directed and resilient, with the ability to develop content independently and revise based on feedback 

Proficient in the use of MS Office 365 

Able to build and nurture positive relationships 

Able to analyze , understand and articulate sophisticated ideas efficiently 

Able to work efficiently and independently as well as part of the team 

Proven ability to learn new technologies and software applications quickly 

Able to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand

Wage Range: $3900 - $5000 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
