ABOUT THE ONTARIO TECH STUDENT UNION
The Ontario Tech Student Union, lovingly referred to as the OTSU, is a not-for-profit organization that aims to enhance the student experience at Ontario Tech University. We’re a small team comprised of full-time management staff, Full-time unionized staff, part-time staff, and our elected Student Executives and Board of Directors. Our offerings to students include essential services, extracurricular clubs, a health and dental plan, an esports community, and advocacy. Our offerings to our staff include an amazing, collaborative team dynamic, the ability to truly make an impact for students, and an overall great working environment. This is a fast-paced team; we work quickly, and our landscape is constantly changing.
SUMMARY
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for supporting the organization’s HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, labour and employee relations, learning and development, health and safety, HR planning, benefits administration, and performance management as directed by the Executive Director. This role also supports general operational functions of the organization, including oversight of front desk customer service staff and coordination of operational administrative tasks. In addition, the HR Generalist serves as the organization’s Chief Returning Officer (CRO) for student elections and related electoral processes as directed by the Boards elections committee.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may require occasional evening and weekend work during events, elections, or organizational initiatives. Work is primarily performed in an office environment with periodic travel between campus locations and attendance at organizational events. The role may require flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced and evolving organizational environment.
