POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for leading all staffing and recruitment processes. The Human Resources Advisor/Recruitment plays a critical role in building a strong workforce, helping Westbank First Nation (WFN) meet its strategic objectives. This position oversees staffing policies and procedures to ensure WFN meets it legal obligations, while also ensuring there are no limitations for hiring the best talent.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Degree or Post-Secondary education in Human Resources or related field required
• CPHR designation is considered an asset or working towards
• 2 years of staffing and recruitment experience, preferably in a government
• Experience working with UKG or Laserfiche is an asset
• Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter or other online recruitment tools is required
• Experience working with Indigenous communities/people considered an asset
• Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

• Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
• Responsible for staffing and recruiting processes
• Coordinates the full-cycle recruitment and onboarding including; preparing internal and external job postings, posting opportunities with third party providers, scheduling interviews, verifying references, and requesting and delivering Employment Agreements.
• Refers Managers to the HR Advisor to ensure new positions are properly established and the job requirements are accurate
• Ensures new hires have compiled all necessary agreements and provide necessary documentation
• Prepares employment opportunity postings to post internally first, where applicable, externally, and with third party providers
• Coordination of Internal Career Fairs to promote vacancies, secondary to that attends external job fairs
• Maintain and updates the Manager HR Recruitment Manual & the Internal HR Checklist
• Maintains HR Recruitment Metrics and Stats, including gathering, analyzing and reporting on recruitment statistics as required
• Collaborates with hiring Managers in sourcing, attracting, screening, and short-listing qualified candidates.
• Collaborates with hiring Managers to ensure the interview committee is established and participates in interviews as required
• Supports hiring Managers in the preparation of interview questions and testing, ensuring proper scoring methods are used
• Arranges interviews, ensuring to coordinate schedules of interview committee members and candidates.
• Maintains close communication with hiring Managers to confirm accuracy of employment offer, prior to presenting to selected candidate
• Ensure that references, background checks and verifies credentials with the external service provider
• Assists with recruitment and retention strategies
• Responsible to coordinate and complete the Summer Student Placement Program every year
• Participates in all Human Resources Recruitment Projects
• Responds to recruitment inquiries from employees and the public, external job applicants, and WFN Members throughout the recruitment and selection process
• Performs all duties in accordance with WFN policies, standards, and procedures
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of WFN
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position as assigned by the Human Resources Manager and Director of HR
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Knowledge of recruitment best practices and employment law (Canada Labour Code, Canadian Human Rights Acts, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards)
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; superior client service skills
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with multiple priorities
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with various WFN departments effectively
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, team orientation, and outgoing nature
• Ability to consistently conduct oneself with tact and discretion in all matters
• Ability to identify, maintain, and protect the integrity of confidential information
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a pro-active, and solution-oriented approach
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Working knowledge of HRIS systems such as UKG

The median salary range for this position is $71,405
