Located within the territory of WSÁNEĆ (Saanich), Lkwungen (Songhees) and Wyomilth (Esquimalt) peoples, the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) is the umbrella association for the 25 Friendship Centres throughout the Province of British Columbia. The BCAAFC collaboratively works to promote and deliver accessible programs and services that target urban Indigenous peoples and that support their vision of health and wellness.
We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Assistant. The BCAAFC Human Resources Assistant works with the Human Resource and Finance departments to provide administrative assistance on human resource and payroll matters. The Human Resources Assistant provides information to staff and team leads on general matters related to HR, including team meetings and training. This position supports the recruitment process by managing the posting and initial screening and scheduling of interviews; and ensures that accurate records are maintained for all matters of Human Resources.

Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in office administration, psychology, social work or another like program
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in human resources department
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations is an asset
- Experience working in non-profit environments preferred
- Experience supervising staff, training staff an asset
- Proven ability to work with integrity managing confidential materials and information

- Strong interpersonal skills.
Employment Conditions:
- The workweek is 21 hours (can be split over 3, 4, or 5 days).
- This is a work-from-home position with occasional time at the BCAAFC office at 551 Chatham Street, Victoria required. The applicant must live in the Victoria area.
- The selected individual must have a stable internet connection and telephone/cell phone to work from home. IT services and a laptop will be supplied.
- Must be able to provide clear, current criminal record check
The compensation package includes:
- $36,060-$38,220.00 annually based on experience
- Three weeks paid vacation (PRO-RATED for a 21-hour work week) (plus additional time off during office closure at the end of December)
- Employee health benefits plan, upon completion of 3-month probation period
- RRSP matching of up to 8% of annual salary to a max of $8,000 per year.
