Reporting to the Corporate Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all human resource activities in the areas of recruitment, benefits administration, training and development and employee relations. The Human Resources Generalist guides and consults with management and employees on the interpretation and administration of human resources’ policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
HUMAN RESOURCES:
Provides full cycle recruitment support which includes (but is not limited to): development of job descriptions, collection of ATH (Authorization to Hire Form) as well interviewing candidates alongside the hiring manager
Conducts new employee orientations and onboarding with all new employees
Provides managers with guidance on employee termination and employment contracts to ensure Provincial employment regulations are followed
Ensures that all biweekly payroll, benefit paperwork, new hire documents and termination documents are completed and forwarded to Head Office as well as maintaining all payroll records for support and reference
Maintains and updates the HRIS system with employee information, timesheet accuracy, training documents, and employee absenteeism
Provides advice to managers, supervisors and lead-hands on all HR issues
Conducts annual employee surveys and facilitate open forums.
Updates metrics for monthly MRM meetings
Leads and facilitate “I” Team meetings.
Works with managers to develop training plans for all employees
Investigate and source out appropriate training; implements training programs to raise overall level of competency
Leads the Health, Safety & Accessibility Meeting
Manages the social committee budget
Provides ad hoc reports / spreadsheets or information when required

Communicates to the Payroll and Benefits Specialist changes for existing employees and terminating employees
Administers the company safety shoes and safety glasses programs
Manages disability and worker’ compensation claim

Promotes safe work practices as outlined in the Work Safe BC regulations
Maintains up-to-date on Work Safe BC and WCB regulations and makes appropriate changes to policies and procedures
Performs daily walkthrough of the facility
QUALITY:
Ensures the Company’s quality policies and procedures are followed
Participates in Quality Audits as required
TEAM BUILDING:
Participates in 1X1 meetings with the Corporate HR Manager.
Champions RESPECT code of behavior
Controls and documents 1X1 meetings, annual performance reviews
Leads the Social Committee and manages all work events
Coordinates and participates in monthly business update
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
Continually challenges the status quo and identify ways to improve process and efficiency within role, department and company
REQUIREMENTS:
5 years of experience in a HR generalist role supporting all areas of the business
1 – 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
3 – 5 years of experience/extensive knowledge of B.C Employment Standards Act, WCB, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and proven ability to provide advice to clients on the application of these acts
3 – 5 years of experience in maintaining timesheet accuracy, payroll records, benefit paperwork, new hire documents, training documents, and employee absenteeism and termination documents
1 – 3 years of experience in conflict resolution and negotiation skills
1 – 3 years of experience in conducting training and creating presentations
3 – 5 years of experience in using HRIS system and Microsoft Office ( Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
Demonstrated knowledge of human resources management practices
Diploma in Human Resources Management
Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset
Accuracy and confidentiality is a must
Organize, take initiative, multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize work, sometimes with conflicting priorities
Attention to detail, analytical thinking, organizational awareness, good judgement, strong decision-making, problem-solving skills, positive team player and work with minimal supervision.

8:00 m – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
