Position Overview
The HR Generalist is responsible for delivering daily HR support across the employee lifecycle, ensuring a positive employee experience while maintaining compliance and with employment legislation and company policies. This role supports the retail and business sales teams, store leadership, administrative staff, and head office functions through general and operational support. Working closely with the Director of HR, the HR Generalist helps execute HR strategy while being the operational HR contact for manager, leaders and employees. Full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and key HR administrative tasks will be executed by the Generalist to ensure smooth HR operations and exceptional employee experience for all 4L locations. This position reports to the Director of HR, and they will be assisting in the fostering and growth of the people and culture that make up the dynamic team of 4L.
Core Functions & Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting:
Coordinate full cycle recruitment for all roles in coordination with the appropriate department heads
Accountable for job postings, screen candidates, schedule interviews, trial shifts, and manage the candidate communications
Support the hiring decision process and workforce planning with store leadership based on seasonality and sales cycles
Manage background checks and employment documentation
Onboarding & Offboarding:
Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding, orientation and systems set up
Deliver orientation sessions covering policies, culture, and compliance training
Coordinate training enrollment for sales systems as required
Facilitate exit interviews and ensure compliant offboarding
Communicate employment changes to appropriate departments and personnel
Employee Relations:
Point of contact for employee questions about policies, system access, and concerns
Assist leaders with performance management, coaching conversations, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and documentation
Assist in workplace investigations related to concerns and policy breaches
Promote respectful workplace practices and support conflict resolution, promote 4L core values
Policy, Compliance & HR Administration:
Maintain HR policies align with provincial employment standards
Ensure compliance with industry standards, privacy, and workplace safety in coordination with the Director of Operations
Keep HR policies and employee handbook updated
Maintain HRIS records, prepare reports on turnover, recruitment metrics, leaves, and attendance (included, but not limited to)
Update employee files and ensure confidentiality of HR data
Training & Development:
Assist in the design, delivery, and implementation of training and development programs
Coordinate leadership and sales training initiatives with department heads
Track mandatory 4L and TELUS training
Assist in performance review cycles and development planning
Engagement & Culture:
Work closely with the Director to implement strategy, enhance culture, develop people, and support employee engagement programs
Assist in surveys, action planning, and culture initiatives
Experience & Skills Required
Diploma/Certificate or Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
2+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a sales or high volume environment
Proven success sourcing and hiring sales professionals and admin roles through multiple platforms
Understanding of recruitment best practices, hiring compliance, and candidate experience
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products and familiarity with HRIS and ATS systems. (UKG an asset)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across functions and levels
Results driven mindset with the ability to work in a metrics focused environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
