Objective:
To attract, hire, and onboard highly skilled and engaged talent through strategic recruitment and selection processes, while also contributing to key HR functions such as payroll coordination, performance management, learning and development, and records management. This role plays a critical part in implementing HR initiatives and systems that align with the strategic goals of OFIFC.
Key Deliverables:
- Effective full-cycle recruitment and onboarding aligned with workforce planning.
- Accurate support in payroll, timecard processing, and employee records management, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and confidentiality.
- Coordination of learning and development initiatives and facilitation of performance management cycles, contributing to employee growth and organizational effectiveness.
- Meaningful contributions to HR projects, general HR operations, and process improvements that enhance departmental efficiency and support OFIFC’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding (40%):
- Source candidates by engaging with post-secondary institutes, employment agencies, media platforms, and online job boards to build applicant pipelines.
- Manage the applicant tracking system (ATS), including candidate records, assessments, interview scheduling, and coordination of screening activities.
- Review candidate applications and assesses qualifications through resume screening and structured interviews to align with job requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date job descriptions and interview materials aligned with organizational needs and position requirements.
- Issue employment agreements and coordinate onboarding logistics, including scheduling orientations and working with supervisors to prepare for new hires.
- Partner with the IT team to ensure timely setup of required equipment for new employees.
- Delivers Human Resources orientation sessions and ensures completion of pre-employment requirements, including Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Checks.
HR Operations (30%):
- Assist with drafting and sending Letters of Employment and other HR-related correspondence.
- Contribute to payroll and timecard processing, ensuring accurate tracking of hours worked and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with payroll.
- Supports the implementation of HR projects and initiatives, contributing to planning, execution, and follow-up.
Performance & Talent Management (20%):
- Keep record of and coordinate training and learning reimbursements, ensuring alignment with organizational learning and development policies.
- Facilitate performance management objectives, including organizing review cycles, tracking completion of evaluations, and supporting the performance improvement process.
HR Reporting and Analytics (10%):
- Support the HR Manager in collecting and presenting current trends related to labour market and compensation practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records on HRIS and SharePoint while also ensuring confidentiality.
- Assists with general HR reporting and analytics, including recruitment metrics, onboarding progress, and employee data tracking to support informed decision-making.
Education/Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources management, organizational psychology or another relevant discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience.
- Over 1, up to and including 3 years experience in a similar role preferably some within an Indigenous organization.

Technical Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and talent-sourcing tools with the ability to leverage them for effective candidate outreach and employer branding.
- Adept understanding of HR practices with a focus on recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Familiarity with employment laws and legislation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and HRIS platforms.
- Working knowledge of recruitment metrics and analytics.
- In-depth understanding of performance management to facilitate evaluations.
- Demonstrates precision in handling HR data, identifying and correcting discrepancies in records, payroll, and timekeeping systems.
