Position Summary

The Industrial Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems within the food manufacturing plant. This role ensures machinery operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food safety and occupational health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OHSA, food safety (HACCP, GMPs), and company policies during all work.


• Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and drawings.


• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime.


• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.


• Collaborate with production and quality teams to maintain equipment to food-grade standards.


• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and report equipment performance issues.


• Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Perform emergency breakdown repairs while minimizing production disruption.


• Participate in workplace safety programs, including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.


• Electrical certifications/knowledge is an asset. 


• Familiarity with PLC controls systems. 

Qualifications

• Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) in Ontario (mandatory).


• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or food production environment preferred.


• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.


• Welding and fabrication experience considered an asset.


• Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and food plant sanitation requirements a must.


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.


• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.


• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

• Food manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.


• Must wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times.


• May be required to work overtime, weekends, or on-call to support production needs.


• 
  This role requires strong computer skills, including daily use of maintenance software and digital documentation. Candidates must be very comfortable working with computers and learning new systems.
