Tasks:

1. Assign IT projects to systems analysts, programmers and other computer technicians


2. Coordinate IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services


3. Direct and control daily operations


4. Plan and control budget and expenditures


5. Recruit staff


6. Review operational reports to assess compliance with software and hardware requirements


7. Supervise computer analysts, engineers, programmers, technicians and other personnel


8. Establish and implement policies and procedures for information systems


9. Authorize the development of specifications for products or services


10. Recruit, train and supervise staff


11. Assign, co-ordinate and review projects and programs


12. Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations


13. Meet with clients to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines


14. Conduct business and technical studies


15. Provide advice on information systems strategy, policy, management and service delivery


16. Assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware


17. Develop and implement policies and procedures throughout the software development life cycle


18. Develop policies, procedures and contingency plans to minimize the effects of security breaches


19. Conduct reviews to assess quality assurance practices, software products and information systems
