Job Description:

AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking a Structural Engineer - Tunnel. In this role, you will be involved in designing tunnels for transportation infrastructure, dams, water projects, wastewater projects, and carrying out engineering works. You will also be responsible for designing permanent structures cast in place, shotcrete lining design, and in the design of TBM prefabricated concrete segmental tunnel linings in hard rock and soft ground, in the rehabilitation of existing underground structures, etc. If you are looking for new challenges and an employer with major infrastructure projects, and if you want to join an inclusive and diverse team you can rely on... then we are the employer for you!

As a Structural Engineer, you will have, among other responsibilities:

1. Perform analyses of underground structures or complex 2D and 3D structural analyses and prepare design calculations;


2. Prepare design criteria and perform construction impact assessments;


3. Prepare and develop structural details and plans for construction using BIM and AutoCAD in collaboration with drafters/designers;


4. Prepare construction bids and structural quantity calculations;


5. Contribute to risk management activities and construction cost estimation;


6. Design retaining walls (SOE) for shafts, voussoirs, and tunnel lining;


7. Perform analyses of underground structures.

The ideal candidate:

1. Has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in structures, a Master's degree in structural engineering/tunnels is an asset;


2. Has a minimum of 6 years of experience in underground structure (tunnels) and SOE design, and is a member of the OIQ or another Canadian province;


3. Is proficient in modeling and designing underground structural systems using 2D and 3D finite element analysis (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, CATIA, Abaqus, and/or others);


4. Has experience in the rehabilitation of existing underground structures and waterproofing designs;


5. Has the ability to assess damages to buildings caused by adjacent underground constructions.
