The faculty member professionally facilitates the learning process of the students and supports students in achieving established learning outcomes to the maximum of their potential. The faculty member makes use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies to ensure student success. The faculty member is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a student-centered learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature. The specific workload of the faculty member is determined by the Chair or designee after considering the success factors of the school, program and faculty member.
The Clinical Support Services Portfolio within the School of Health & Public Safety has a need for an energetic and resourceful individual with great organizational skills to provide instruction in the Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Laboratory Assistant programs. We are currently looking for an experienced registered Medical Laboratory Technologist. The position will be located on the SAIT main campus on 16th Avenue and report to the Academic Chair of Clinical Support Services. How you'll contribute
Class Contact
- Facilitate and supervise student learning in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and practicum environments through action‑based lessons, demonstrations, and assessments
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progress, competency development, and professional behaviour
Class Management
- Maintain current and relevant course materials, laboratory manuals, and teaching resources aligned with MLA/MLT professional standards and industry practices
- Manage classroom and laboratory environments to ensure a safe, compliant, and positive learning experience
- Maintain accurate records for grading, attendance, and competency tracking
- Prepare laboratory preps and supply lists in collaboration with Educational Technologists
- Evaluate student performance and support retention through clear, competency‑based assessment practices
- Promote professionalism, ethical conduct, and regulatory expectations
- Adhere to safety legislation, accreditation standards, and SAIT policies and procedures
Other Duties
- Conduct site visits to clinical practicum placements and provide training, guidance, and support to preceptors
- Develop and maintain practicum partnerships to support placement capacity and program growth
- Participate in program, portfolio, School, or SAIT meetings
- Support institutional initiatives that build student readiness, resilience, and professionalism
- Participate in course development, program reviews, accreditation preparation, and quality‑assurance activities
- Engage in scholarly activity, applied research, or related projects as appropriate
- Pursue ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the MLA/MLT profession and as a faculty member
- Collaborate with colleagues to advance teaching methods, educational technology, and student success
- Leverage your clinical expertise to help shape the future of applied health education at SAIT

What you bring
- Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA)
- Eligible for registration with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS); active registration is an asset
- Degree in a related field preferred
- Adult education coursework, certification, or professional development preferred

- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate, build relationships, and work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to interpret curriculum and deliver course materials effectively in classroom, lab, and clinical contexts

- Proficiency with educational technology, including Brightspace, Microsoft 365 applications, and webinar platforms, is an asset
