Cassady Law LLP is a dynamic full-service law firm located at the centre of the Lower Mainland in New Westminster. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our vibrant estates, wills and trust team as a paralegal.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- minimum of five years estate, wills and trust experience, preferably within a law firm setting
- strong knowledge of the Wills, Estates & Succession Act, relevant Rules of Court and the Trustee Act
- attention to detail when preparing documents
- some experience with preparing court applications for estate matters such as section 58 applications and formal passing of accounts
- experience with MS Office, BC Online, LTSA and accounting software
- demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Duties:
- assist lawyers with clients from initial contact through to completion of all tasks
- preparation of various types of Estate Grant applications and supporting documentation
- preparation of wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements and declarations of gift
- preparation of various forms of trust deeds with supporting documentation
- management of files, trust binders, vaulting index and personal effects
- searching, obtaining and filing necessary documentation and information from Vital Statistics Agency, Court Registry, LTSA, Personal Property Registry
- assisting with maintaining wills, trust and estate records, including preservation of original documents within a vaulting system, in an orderly and efficient manner.
Compensation: Salary and benefits package commensurate with experience.
