Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is seeking Physician Champions to support the organization’s planning and implementation of a modern Health Information System (HIS).

The Physician Champion is a site-based medical leadership role for physicians who are committed to ensuring the HIS implementation reflects the realities of medical practice at WHCA. Physician Champions will act as a trusted clinical voice for medical staff at their site, engaging colleagues in the process and providing critical input on physician workflows, order management, and clinical documentation. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape digital health at WHCA while building expertise in clinical systems.

Position Summary:

These roles are designed to leverage the Physician Champion's direct clinical expertise to ensure the HIS is configured in a way that supports safe, efficient medical practice, reflects site-specific physician workflows, and builds physician confidence in the new system.

Why Consider This Role?

  • Champion physician perspectives during a major digital transformation at WHCA

  • Develop expertise in clinical informatics, digital health, and HIS implementation

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams, nursing, and clinical leaders

  • Help design workflows, and clinical tools that support excellent patient care

Testing & Validation

  • Participate in system and user acceptance testing from a physician perspective

  • Identify, document, and escalate physician-related workflow issues or gaps identified during testing

  • Review and validate clinical content such as order sets, protocols, and physician documentation templates

Training & Go‑Live Support

  • Support development of physician-specific training materials and reference tools

  • Provide peer coaching and at-the-elbow support to medical staff during training and go-live

  • Act as a visible and credible point of contact for physician questions, concerns, and feedback at your site

  • Communicate project updates, timelines, and key decisions to medical staff in accessible language

  • Gather and relay physician feedback to the project team to inform configuration and change management decisions

  • Participate in relevant medical advisory or leadership forums as appropriate

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Clinical Informatics Lead, Nursing Champions, and the broader HIS project team

  • Partner with the site Chief of Staff and hospital leadership to support physician change readiness

  • Collaborate with Physician Champions at other WHCA sites to promote consistency where clinically appropriate
